The green supply chain cooperation platform for the Belt and Road Initiative was jointly launched today by nine organizations including China-ASEAN(Shanghai Cooperation Organization)Environmental Cooperation Center, Environmental Defense, Environmental Development Centre of MEP, Policy Research Center for Environment and Economy of MEP, Environmental Protection Bureau of Shanghai, China Association of Environmental Protection Industry, Green Supply Chain Association of Guangdong, Dongguan Demonstration Center for Green Supply Chain Management, Tianjin Demonstration Center for Cooperation Network of APEC Green Supply Chain.

Green is fundamental to the Belt and Road Initiative and ecological protection is one of the key cooperation fields under the Belt and Road Initiative. Building green supply chain is a significant path to achieve green development under the Belt and Road Initiative. As is indicated in the Guiding Opinions on Promoting Green Development under the Belt and Road Initiative issued by MEP and other there ministries, China is to reinforce international cooperation and demonstration for green supply chain. Green supply chain management is to serve as the bridge for trade cooperation between countries, drive greenization of upstream and downstream of international industrial chains, and advance the Belt and Road Initiative. With the guidance of MEP, China-ASEAN center has been supporting Tianjin, Shanghai, Dongguan and other cities in implementing local demonstration projects of green supply chain management, leading the implementation of demonstration projects in electronics, furniture manufacturing, shoe-making, textile and logistics industries, and providing assistance in policy and standards, assessment indexes, managing tools and supporting platforms for enterprises.
