“Technological Innovation for Better Environmental Quality” -- 2017 International Clean Technology Summit & 2nd Annual Meeting of 3iPET held in Beijing.

On June 12, 2017, the Foreign Economic Cooperation Office of the Ministry of Environmental Protection (FECO), the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences (CSES) and the Chamber of Environment of All China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC) jointly organized the International CleanTech Summit & 2nd Annual Meeting of 3iPET in Beijing. The theme of this Summit is “Technological Innovation for Better Environmental Quality”, with a focus on green technology innovation and transfer, the sharing of practical experience and technology of environmental management in the field of atmosphere, water, soil and industrial park. MEP Vice Minister Huang Runqiu attended the Summit and delivered a speech. About 300 delegates from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the World Bank (WB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), a number of foreign embassies in China, as well as relevant scientific research institutions, industry associations, social organizations and Chinese and foreign environmental enterprises attended the Summit.

 

Huang Runqiu stated the importance of green technology innovation in addressing the problem between environment and development. The important speech recently given by Chinese President Xi Jinping concerning the formation of green development and lifestyle is the guideline and basic principle for keeping a good relationship between development and protection of relations and promoting green development. MEP’s CPC Secretary Li Ganjie stressed the importance of environmental protection technology innovation and pointed out the direction for promoting green technology innovation and progress. Technological innovation has become a key tool for improving environmental quality.

Huang Runqiu made three suggestions for 3iPET. First, serve the improvement of environmental quality and strengthen the exchange and sharing of key technologies for pollution control, ecological remediation and other areas. Second, promote the integration between technological innovation and industrial development and build the platform of environmental technology information sharing, and effectively promote a diversified technical cooperation between the government, think tanks, enterprises, social organizations and the public. Third, strengthen international cooperation and utilize the advantages of resources of domestic and foreign environmental protection industry, and innovate the mode of international environmental technology transfer.
